Big Red Reading Bus

Thanks to a year-end grant from Madison Community Foundation (MCF) and other sponsors, our
dream of a specially outfitted vehicle to transport books and materials to events and schools has become a reality.
“This project is exactly what Madison Community Foundation looks for – a commitment to learning, innovative ideas for mobile service, and the vision to evolve a program that will serve thousands of young people and their families,” says Tom Linfield, vice president at MCF. “We could not be more excited to see the Big Red Reading Bus roll around Dane County, delighting kids as they select from a wide variety of free books, accessing them in their home community.”

Have the Big Red Reading Bus at Your Next Event

The bus is loaded with books and will make scheduled stops at neighborhood centers, community gathering spots, hometown festivals, schools, libraries, and parks where children will be invited to browse hundreds of books and select a few to take home—at no charge.
