Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Our success as an organization is due in part to the countless hours and amazing effort of our volunteer base.  If you are interesting in giving your time to our organization, we have a variety of options to choose from.

Follow these simple steps to become a MRP volunteer:
  1. Complete our Individual Volunteer Application.

  2. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you and assist you with our volunteer training and orientation process.

Book Center

Book Center volunteer shifts typically include assisting our literacy team with book processing, inventory, cleaning and organizing and helping us prepare for our literacy programs in the community.

Little Free Library Book Delivery

During our regular business hours, volunteers can help by picking up and distributing books to Little Free Libraries in the Madison area.  Please email us to schedule a time to pick-up books. This will ensure we have the materials and maps ready for you prior to your arrival.

Book Giving Events & Literacy Programs

We need assistance when we're out and about giving away books and providing literacy enrichment programs in the community.  Responsibilities may include reading to children, assisting our staff during activities, and helping kids select a book that they're excited to read.

  • Volunteers who are interested in working with kids at a book giving event or literacy enrichment program will need to complete:

    • A background and reference check.

    • Anti-bias training and onsite orientation
